Using nailfold capillary microscopy, we studied 88 workers divided into two groups, 33 workers with occupational microvascular disease and 55 with occupational exposure to hand-held vibrating tools. By comparing the two groups, the observed nailfold capillary abnormalities proved to be higher in the first group of workers. Nailfold capillary microscopy is a useful method for monitoring workers exposed to vibration and for identifying hypersensitive individuals.

Abstract

Using nailfold capillary microscopy, we studied 88 workers divided into two groups, 33 workers with occupational microvascular disease and 55 with occupational exposure to hand-held vibrating tools. By comparing the two groups, the observed nailfold capillary abnormalities proved to be higher in the first group of workers. Nailfold capillary microscopy is a useful method for monitoring workers exposed to vibration and for identifying hypersensitive individuals.
