The present work presents the experimental results aimed to assess the dynamical features of a cable-stayed footbridge recently built in Terni (Italy). In particular, wind-tunnel tests at model scale were performed to investigate the wind-induced effects for both the bridge deck cross-section and the tower. Full-scale measurements were carried out to determine the main modal properties of the whole structure at prototype scale, to be used to design devices to mitigate unwanted vibrations.

Abstract

The present work presents the experimental results aimed to assess the dynamical features of a cable-stayed footbridge recently built in Terni (Italy). In particular, wind-tunnel tests at model scale were performed to investigate the wind-induced effects for both the bridge deck cross-section and the tower. Full-scale measurements were carried out to determine the main modal properties of the whole structure at prototype scale, to be used to design devices to mitigate unwanted vibrations.
