The contribution illustrates the first results of the international project "Mycenaean Textiles. Texts and Contexts", in collaboration between the Service of Antiquities of Thebes, Boiotia, and the Center for Textile Research at Copenhagen. The main indicators for textile production are described, starting with the spinning and then with the weaving tools from various parts of Mycenaean Thebes. It appears that textile industry was both highly specilised and variously dispersed throughout the ancient settlement. The contribution is the outcome of a collective work undertaken in Thebes since 2007. The volume is the output of an international project leaded by CTR (Tools, textiles and contexts) that involved scholars from many international institutions working in various areas of the Mediterranean on Bronze Age levels.
