Phase correlation measurements of a laser beam propagated through a turbulent medium

Si riportano misure di fluttuazioni di fase di un fasci laser dopo un breve percorso nell'atmosfera. Si nota che le funzioni di struttura ottenute si descrivono meglio usando un modello gaussiano di turbolenza invece che la famosa legge dei due terzi usata nella letteratura. I risultati sollevano il problema del limite della validità del modello e del valore della scala esterna della turbolenza. Measurements of phase fluctuations of a laser beam after a short atmospheric path are described. It is found that the phase structure function is better described by a gaussian turbulence model than by the two-third model commonly used in the literature. The problem is raised of the limit of validity of the model and the value of the outer scale at near ground level.
