La vegetazione del Padule di Orti-Bottagone (Piombino, Toscana meridionale) e la sua importanza botanica ai fini conservazionistici

The vegetation of the Orti-Bottagone Marshes (Piombino, Southern Tuscany) and its botanic conservation relevance — A vegetation survey of these coastal fresh and salt water marshes was carried out by means of phytosociological relevés and of literature data analyses. The survey led to the recognition of several mediterranean vegetation types: salmarshes scrubs (Puccinellio festuciformis-Sarcocornietum perennis, Puccinellio-Halimionetum portulacoidis), glasswort swards (Suaedo maritimae-Salicornietum patulae), halonitrophilous annual communities (Salsoletum sodae, Crypsidetum aculeatae), salt meadows (Limonio narbonensis-Puccinellietum festuciformis, Limonio-Juncetum gerardii, Elytrigio elongatae- Inuletum crithmoidis), halophile clubrush beds (Puccinellio festuciformis-Scirpetum compacti), rush beds (Scirpo-Juncetum subulati), common reed and reedmace beds (Phragmitetum australis, Typhaetum latifoliae). A vegetation map of this area is presented. Finally, the taxa of greater conservation value and of phytogeographical interest are listed; the habitat of European relevance (Annexe I Dir. 92/43/CEE) are pointed out.
