This article presents an overview of Italian media development in the postwar period. A unique media market has developed in Italy, which has allowed two media players, the public service broadcaster Rai — Radiotelevisione italiana — and the commercial media company, Mediaset, to dominant audience share and advertising revenues in the Italian Broadcasting market.
