The paper deals with the regeneration of the old Port of Edinburgh and the conversion of the former Commercial Street Bonded Warehouses. Conversion began in the early 1980's provinding a mixture of housing, offices and wine bars in an enclave focused on the water of Leith.The biggest challenge to date has been the change of use of a long range of warehouses that line Commercial Street , stretching towards a formely deprived part of the city. The refurbisment of this area is an example of urban regeneration which has the potentrial to act as a model for simiral buildings and sites in other localities
