A new technique is introduced capable of increasing the number of transform points attainable by a chirp-Fourier-transform (CFT) unit. This result is achieved by sequentially analyzing a number of input adjacent time segments and in recombining the output transform blocks, after previous multiplications by proper weight factors. An hybrid analog/digital CFT architecture, where the required processing is digitally implemented, is described. The capability of improving frequency resolution and/or widening the analyzed bandwidth is demonstrated. Application to frequency analysis of signals of unknown timing is also discussed.

Abstract
A new technique is introduced capable of increasing the number of transform points attainable by a chirp-Fourier-transform (CFT) unit. This result is achieved by sequentially analyzing a number of input adjacent time segments and in recombining the output transform blocks, after previous multiplications by proper weight factors. An hybrid analog/digital CFT architecture, where the required processing is digitally implemented, is described. The capability of improving frequency resolution and/or widening the analyzed bandwidth is demonstrated. Application to frequency analysis of signals of unknown timing is also discussed.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
