Abstract

A microwave sensor for remote detection of structural displacements is experimented as geotechnical instrument for dynamic and static testing of bridges. The results of a number of validation campaigns are reported: a highway bridge forced by vehicular traffic, a railways bridge, and a pedestrian bridge. Furthermore, in this paper the authors present a novel development of the technique that allows to detect torsional movements too.
