Economia della cooperazione e del non-profit

The economics of cooperative enterprise has a long history and an established position within economics. The book reviews facts and theories about cooperative firms. Most monographs center on the worker cooperative, which has indeed attracted almost all attention by economists over the years. Here, besides the treatment of the worker cooperatives, consumer cooperatives and non-profits firms are dealt with too. Cooperatives and non profit-firms all belong to the so-called third sector and show important similarities. The book adopts a unified treatment which is essential for the understanding of cooperative firm in the broader context of the third sector. In the first part of the topic is the dilemma "capitalist enterprise – worker co-operative enterprise” analyzed in terms of organizational efficiency. From the third part onward the focus is on the cooperative’s internal functioning in its different aspects: the organization of work and relationships with partners, both in the worker cooperative and consumer/user cooperative, corporate finance. The last part of the book is devoted to non-profit organizations.
