In this paper a study of the behaviour of existing wooden floors under in plane shear loads has been carried out. The benefit of the actual reinforcement techniques are analysed in order to assess their reliability and their in plane shear stiffness. Different techniques are taken into account. Both analytical and numerical models are developed. Numerical applications are developed with ANSYS. Aim of this work is to provide useful results in order to evaluate the reliability of the traditional reinforcement techniques. As a matter of fact the knowledge of the in plane shear stiffness of existing wooden floors it’s an important task in order to do a proper structural design.
