Transhumance for environment preservationand for high quality organic productions

Transhumance is a traditional animal management that permits the utilisation of several areas characterised by very different and contrasting environmental conditions. It can lead to benefits also for animals and their health. Results showed in this paper concern information collected on pastures and on sheep grazing very far environments on the Alpine chain and in a Mediterranean area. Data showed the benefit in terms of pastoral value and biodiversity in pastures when grazed and some different performances observed comparing two different groups of animals.
