Abstract

In recent years the development of Information Technologies has led to extensive changes in the field of photogrammetric techniques for the surveying of historical buildings. In particular, IT has allowed the innovative integration of numerical and analogical data, opening up a path for new methods in the analysis of physical phenomena and interpretation of historical and cultural values. Nowadays digital photogrammetry offers several methods of acquisition and treatment of geometrical data to suit specific aims of a survey, the required degree of accuracy, working conditions and the specific building morphology. This paper examines various approaches utilised in the survey of historical buildings by a group of researchers from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Florence.
