PLM in laerge retail trade: an application

Introducing PLM software in large retail trade seems to be a strange idea but, at a deeper analysis, retail environment offers many opportunities. In fact this setting presents remarkable affinities with the civil one, a market where PLM has been broadly applied, then there can be listed some other aspects which emphasise the chance of a software integration: an example of evidence is the significant role played by maintenance costs in comparison with the construction“s ones, a condition which determines the importance to undertake a software solution capable to integrate design and planning data with the ones used for areas and assets management. This article is going to describe the project developed to introduce an enterprise information system based on PLM approach to support the asset management process of a company operating in large distribution market.
