This study describes results of an experimental analysis on the effects of berm width variations on wave transmission through low crested/submerged rubble mount breakwaters. Test were carried out in a wave flume at the at the hydraulic laboratory of the Civil Engineering Department of Florence University. An in depth description of the experiments is presented; moreover measurements of wave transmission are discussed with respect to various design formulas: Van der Meer (1990), Van der Meer and Daemen (1994), D’Angremond et al. (1996), Calabrese et. al. (2002) e Van der Meer et al. (2005). Furthermore a specific formula for submerged barriers, presented by Seabrook and Hall (1998), is used.
