Abstract
In the Medieval debate on the notion of fascinatio the refusal of Avicenna’s theory of dator formarum as an external agent of the production of life implies rejecting the notion of transitive imagination in distans as incoherent with the Aristotelian view of natural causality. This paper focuses on the analysis of Albertus Magnus’, Thomas Aquinas’, Sigerus of Brabantia’, Peter of Abano’, Pomponazzi’s attempts to find an Aristotelian explanation of fascinatio and their different judgments on natural magic as ars.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
