ENERGETIC DEVELOPMENT OF BUILDINGS: TOWARD THE "PASSIVHAUS" MODEL IN MEDITERRANEAN AREA

In order to follow an energy conscious and sustainable development, future energy saving policies will be mainly adopted for buildings even in Mediterranean areas. As a matter of fact buildings are great energy users, therefore is of fundamental importance to develop buildings construction strategies to reduce CO2 emissions, save energy and guarantee good indoor comfort levels. Low energy buildings, which are naturally developing towards passivhaus models both in northern Europe and Italy, are here presented and critically evaluated. Italian passivhaus are presented in their basic features and performances (the envelope, the ventilation and heating systems). Finally some guidelines are suggested in order to consciously adopt the passivhaus model in Mediterranean areas.
