The paper analyzes how the integration of Muslim minorities has become a highly politicized matter all over Europe, raising questions about the forms of recognition that should be granted by the European states to immigrant minorities in order to allow them to keep their religious and cultural specificities in the frame of European laws and values. It considers then the lonks between Islamophobia and the attraction towards fundamentalism by young people who present a complex double identity -European and Muslim.
