The general conditions which must be met in order to achieve magnetically ordered phases are briefly reviewed. The magnetic ordering observed in linear chain compounds based on metal hexafluoroacetylacetonates and nitronyl nitroxides is related to their structural features. Mention is also made to the experimental techniques which allow the understanding of the preferred spin alignment. Possible developments of useful associations of properties in magnetic molecular materials are discussed.

Abstract

The general conditions which must be met in order to achieve magnetically ordered phases are briefly reviewed. The magnetic ordering observed in linear chain compounds based on metal hexafluoroacetylacetonates and nitronyl nitroxides is related to their structural features. Mention is also made to the experimental techniques which allow the understanding of the preferred spin alignment. Possible developments of useful associations of properties in magnetic molecular materials are discussed.
