Collezioni paleontologiche storiche: materiali di restauro e problematiche di conservazione

Ancient paleontological collections: restoration materials and conservation issues. Fossils belonging to ancient and historical collections may have been restored during the centuries. There seems to be remarkably little documentation on these interventions in the museums, because no operative conservation protocols for fossils exist until now. In this work we have analysed from a chemical and mineralogical point of view some historical restore materials from the Fucini Collection at the Natural History Museum in Florence. This is the first step towards a catalogation of these products for a standardization of fossil restoration.
