A microstrip-to-waveguide microwave transition is analysed via the application of an efficient hybrid Modal Expansion/Finite Element Method. The method relies on the knowledge of a modal expansion at each junction port. This expansion is analitically known in the waveguide and is numerically computed in the microstrip region via an appropriate Finite Element Method application. Higher order bases are exploited.

Abstract

A microstrip-to-waveguide microwave transition is analysed via the application of an efficient hybrid Modal Expansion/Finite Element Method. The method relies on the knowledge of a modal expansion at each junction port. This expansion is analitically known in the waveguide and is numerically computed in the microstrip region via an appropriate Finite Element Method application. Higher order bases are exploited.
