The aerodynamics of simple geometries as that of the circle, of the square and of the rectangle is important in both scientific research and practical applications in many areas of Engineering. In particular, broad attention has been addressed towards cylinders with rectangular section, that allow studying a variety of aerodynamic and aeroelastic types of behavior, by simply varying their breadth-to-width ratio. In this paper, in order to investigate some aspects of the aerodynamic and aeroelastic behavior of the 5:1 rectangular cylinder, the results of wind tunnel tests on a fixed and a vibrating model, in smooth and turbulent flow are presented. In particular, together with the statistics of the sectional pressure coefficients, their power spectral density functions and probability density functions are also shown. In addition, limited to the fixed cylinder, the longitudinal correlation of the pressure coefficients in both regimes are compared.
