We present an efficient, physics-based preconditioning scheme for fast Method-of-Moments (MoM) methods for the analysis of large and complex antennas. The preconditioner derives from the the generation of a Multi-Resolution (MR) basis, and it dramatically reduces the number of iterations needed by the iterative solver to reach the desired threshold. Unlike other preconditioners, the MR approach requires a low memory occupation and computational cost for its generation and application, and it does not require any matrix inversion. Its application to the analysis of large arrays shows that it reduces the overall computational cost of the fast method of more than one order of magnitude.
