Effective intercultural communication requires that we understand what a culture is, and the ways in which it affects every aspect of life. As the economy becomes more and more international, people must be able to communicate efficiently with other cultures. The costs of cultural miscommunication are too frequent to allow us to ignore cultural differences or to dismiss other cultures as illogical, or wrong. Although we emphasize the differences among cultures, it’s also important to note that there are differences within cultures. There are distinctions between regions (northern and southern Italy), between organizations (IBM and Apple), and between individuals. Thus, we have to be careful about making cultural generalizations and about applying those generalizations to the people with whom we are doing business. Anticipating and understanding differences will increase the effectiveness of our intracultural and intercultural communication.

Abstract
Anticipating and understanding differences will increase the effectiveness of our intracultural and intercultural communication.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
