3.2.4 - Prove fisiche e meccaniche sui travicelli scartati

During the restoration of the roof of Santa Maria Nuova, some small joists were discharged because of the defects, the decay and the important deformation due to the creep. They were investigated by the mechanical point of view in order to detect if the strong load-bearing history during the centuries had affected their mechanical properties. The results show the possibility to forecast stiffness of the little beams. The strength properties resulted strongly conditioned and hardly evaluable by assessing the wood defects, the residual cross section and the other properties, including non destructive parametres.
