Il progetto CHARTA (Cartographical Historic Archives to Rediscovery of Territory and Architecture)

IL PROGETTO CHARTA (CARTOGRAPHIC HISTORICAL ARCHIVES TO REDISCOVER TERRITORY AND ARCHITECTURE) Obiettivi del progetto sono quello di realizzare un sistema di archiviazione di documenti cartografici del passato in grado di gestire sia i dati strettamente cartografici che i relativi attributi, documentare tali archivi, realizzare siti web per l'accesso ai database cartografici predisposti, prevedere la tutela del copyright dei dati consultati e/o distribuiti, svolgere attività di ricerca su singoli archivi o scelte tematiche secondo percorsi appositamente studiati per finalità didattiche, divulgative e professionali. Obiettivo primario è stato dunque quello di realizzare un prototipo di catalogo informatizzato dell’antica cartografia storica nel quale i dati siano “certificati”, secondo procedure di verifica e validazione, e “fruibili”, secondo distinti livelli di consultazione a seconda delle diverse tipologia di utenza. Attenzione è stata posta affinché il sistema, in grado di gestire quattro diversi sottoinsiemi (alfanumerico, iconografico, cartografico, di consultazione), sia: · aperto all’interazione verso altri modelli simili in ambito europeo ed extraeuropeo; · utilizzi protocolli di comunicazione e standard di descrizione dei dati certificati e diffusi a livello europeo; · impieghi procedure di verifica e certificazione dei dati; · permetta la più ampia fruibilità dei dati contenuti e la loro valorizzazione; · consenta l’esercizio della proprietà e della responsabilità della proprietà dei dati. In particolare l’individuazione e la georeferenziazione delle emergenze monumentali sui documenti cartografici consentirà la creazione di una banca dati finalizzata al censimento e alla conoscenza del patrimonio pubblico delle architetture, degli insediamenti, delle infrastrutture idrauliche e di comunicazione funzionale all’elaborazione di politiche e interventi di recupero. THE CHARTA PROJECT (CARTOGRAPHIC HISTORICAL ARCHIVES TO REDISCOVER TERRITORY AND ARCHITECTURE) The aims of the project are the realization of an archiving system for cartographic documents of the past which will be able to manage both the strictly cartographic data and their relative attributes, to document these archives, to realize web sites for accessing predisposed cartographic databases, to provide the protection of copyright data consulted and/or distributed, to carry out research activities on single archives or on thematic choices according to routes specifically studied for didactic, popular and professional finalities. Thus the primary objective was realizing the prototype of a digitalized catalog of ancient historical cartography in which data are "certified" in compliance with procedures of verification and validation, and "usable" according to the distinct reference levels of the different typologies of users. Care was taken so that the system was able to manage four different sub-sets (alphanumeric, iconographic, cartographic, reference), whenever : · interacting with other similar models in the European and extra-European context; · using the communication protocols and data description standards certified and diffused on the European level; · permitting the widest data content usability and their valorization; · consenting the exercise of ownership and the responsibility for ownership of the data. In particular the individuation and the geo-referencing of the important or interesting monuments in the cartographic documents will allow the creation both of a database finalized in the census and knowledge of the public wealth of architecture, settlements, hydraulic infrastructures and also of functional communication for the elaboration of policies and interventions for their recovery.
