The present work was aimed at investigating the potential of laser treatments of stone artifacts affected by biodegradation. A set of systematic tests was carried out on slab fragments under controlled laboratory environmental conditions then the irradiation treatments developed were validated on four monumental tombs of the “English cemetery” and on the Speranza, marble sculpture by Odoardo Fantacchiotti (1863).
