Three commercial dietary supplements, containing dried extracts or juices from different fruits and vegetables, where analyzed and characterized for their chemical composition and biological activities. In particular, the analyzed products are KI8 capsules and juice - named KI8 Super Juice - (antioxidant and cardioprotective activities), ReduLip® tablets (anticholesterolemic activity) and KIPRESS tablets (hypotensive activity). The chemical characterization was performed by HPLC/DAD/MS of both polyphenolic subclasses and single compounds. Total polyphenol content was 431.0 mg/cps for KI8 capsules; 677.9 mg/g juice for KI8 Super Juice; 37.55 mg/tab for ReduLip® and 10.27 mg/tab for KIPRESS. Folin-Ciocalteu results ranged from 1.64 mg/g GAE (KI8 Super Juice) to 296 mg/g GAE (KI8 capsules); EC50 measured by DPPH• test ranged from 1.63 mg/g (KIPRESS) to 1630 mg/g (KI8 Super Juice). The antioxidant activity was evaluated also by dROMs and PAT in vivo tests after treating a statistically significant number of patients. In all the patients under stress or in pathological conditions, the blood concentrations of hydroperoxides significantly decreased and the plasma antioxidant barrier increased as a result of repeated administrations of the investigated products.
