This essay offers a meticulous examination and a complete collation of a newly discovered manuscript of Phaedrus the fabulist (Vat. lat. 5190), which is philologically most important and solves a number of text-critical problems. Furthermore, Phaedrus' influence on the two "Hecatomythia" of the Italian humanist Laurentius Abstemius is pointed out and studied, and deductions for the history of Phaedrus' textual transmission are drawn. The affiliation of Phaedrus' manuscripts is depicted in a new stemma codicum.
