Contributo alla conoscenza della vegetazione delle Foreste Regionali “Valle Benedetta - Montenero” (Colline Livornesi, Toscana).

The results of a vegetation survey carried out with the Braun-Blanquet method on the Regional Forests named “Valle Benedetta” and “Montenero”, located in western Tuscany on Leghorn Hills, are here presented. Vegetation has been described by literature and 76 original phytosociological relevés, which allowed several vegetation types to be singled out. Numerous sclerophillous and deciduos forest, shrubland and garrigue vegetation types have been attributed to existing syntaxa. Then, the study briefly considers the distribution of plants and habitats deserving conservation treatment according to European Habitat Directives and Tuscan laws. Finally, some agronomic and forest management guidelines for the conservation of the most interesting naturalistic phytocoenoses are given.
