Abstract

In the study, the integration of renewable energy sources (photovoltaic panels and a small size wind turbine) with a conventional diesel generator is investigated in order to satisfy the energy demand of a stand-alone user (isolated mountain chalet). In particular, the aim of the analysis was the definition of the size of renewable energy sources that maximizes the long-term saving of the new energy mix with respect to the conventional diesel-engine configuration.
