The seminar is part of research cooperation existing between the University of Florence and the CATE, Centre for Aviation Transport and Environment and the MSA, Manchester School of Architecture. Manchester Metropolitan University (UK); The topics covered include the design evaluation methodologies and tools for green airport planning. In particular, it covers topics such as: to select the objectives of sustainability, which have to characterize current practices and to show better environmental profile and limited impact , as well as a more adequate quality of the final product design. The proposed approach is targeted to share in the project team the concept of green evaluation of architectural concepts to obtain an improvement of the environmental performances of the airport design. The approach is based on green building grading best practices for airports. The thematic seminar provides the opportunity for an interdisciplinary debate on how these trends impact architectural design.
