Quand les Cathédrales étaient blanches. Voyage au pays des timides

Si tratta di una lettura critica del libro di Le Corbusier. “Le cattedrali erano bianche perché erano nuove. Le città erano nuove: se ne costruivano di tutte le misure, ordinate, regolari, geometriche, secondo dei progetti precisi(…)In cento anni il prodigio si compì e l’Europa venne cambiata. Le cattedrali erano bianche.” Quando le cattedrali erano bianche gli uomini sapevano osare, inseguivano i loro sogni, l’energia creativa si affiancava alla forza d’animo interiore. Le Corbusier ci consegna, oltre lo scritto e le proposte progettuali, un messaggio chiaro che vale al di là di ogni epoca: l’invito a sognare, a guardare in alto, a costruire una coscienza individuale e collettiva, “lievito di atti fecondi”. The cities were new: they were constructed all at once, in an orderly way, regular, geometric, in accordance with plans (…) In a hundred years the marvel was accomplished and Europe was changed. The cathedrals were white.” When the cathedrals were white men knew how to dare, they chased their dreams, creative energy went hand in hand with strength of spirit. Besides his writings and his planning proposals, Le Corbusier entrusts us with a clear message that goes beyond every age: the invitation to dream, to aim high, to build an individual and universal consciousness, “lever of fruitful deeds”.
