The paper deals with the repair and strengthening design of a multi-span brick arch bridge over Arno River. During last years the bridge central span has undergone significant damages as it is visible from the cracking state at abutments and the large deflection of parapets at the crown. Repair and strengthening works are necessary to eliminate the structural degrading and to restore the static collaboration of all structural elements (deck slab, spandrel walls and arch barrel) in bearing first class road loads and resisting against seismic loads. Structural analyses of the bridge have been performed with the F.E. method. Strengthening concerns essentially the central span and its foundations, while minor spans only need maintenance works.

Abstract
The paper deals with the repair and strengthening design of a multi-span brick arch bridge over Arno River. During last years the bridge central span has undergone significant damages as it is visible from the cracking state at abutments and the large deflection of parapets at the crown. Repair and strengthening works are necessary to eliminate the structural degrading and to restore the static collaboration of all structural elements (deck slab, spandrel walls and arch barrel) in bearing first class road loads and resisting against seismic loads. Structural analyses of the bridge have been performed with the F.E. method. Strengthening concerns essentially the central span and its foundations, while minor spans only need maintenance works.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
