The paper presents the results of a wide experimental campaign carried out in BLWT on the rigid model of two neighbouring identical cooling towers. Various distances and wind directions have been investigated. Based on measured pressure patterns, “interference effects” on structural response have been estimated through a series of quasi-static analyses, using the “influence coefficients” method. Obtained results in the group configurations are compared with those of the isolated tower by means of “interference factors”, defined both for pressures and stresses. Results, in good agreement with literature ones, demonstrate the accu-racy of the adopted procedure for the analysis of wind induced stresses on cooling towers in interference.

Abstract
The paper presents the results of a wide experimental campaign carried out in BLWT on the rigid model of two neighbouring identical cooling towers. Various distances and wind directions have been investigated. Based on measured pressure patterns, “interference effects” on structural response have been estimated through a series of quasi-static analyses, using the “influence coefficients” method. Obtained results in the group configurations are compared with those of the isolated tower by means of “interference factors”, defined both for pressures and stresses. Results, in good agreement with literature ones, demonstrate the accu-racy of the adopted procedure for the analysis of wind induced stresses on cooling towers in interference.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
