«Presso al confino alieno»: il caso di Camporsevoli

This paper deals with the category of ‘benevolent’ feudalism, especially interesting for going deeply in when the feudal lord was the Grand Duke, as for Camporsevoli between 1608 and 1630. The aim is also to show, through the analysis of a series of petitions, how life in the feud and his government should take into account that Camporsevoli stood at the border with the Papal State, far from the center of power represented by Siena, the New State Capital and, at the same, its jurisdiction was at the center of a dispute between the Medici and the Papacy.
