Fluvial erosion and mass failure are the two dominant processes causing river bank retreat. In order to investigate the interaction between these two processes and to establish the relative dominance of them under different conditions, research is being undertaken at two diverse study sites: Cecina River (Central Italy) and the River Asker (Southern UK).

Abstract
