The essay starts from the analysis of the book L’orientamento sessuale by the Italian philosopher of law Gianfrancesco Zanetti, in order to explore the anglo-saxon philosophical and legal debate on sexual orientation and the tensions between democracy and the rule of law that such debate reveals, highlighting the limits of contemporay "politics of identity".
