Abstract This work focuses on the little temple of San Concordio, which is the final element of Lucca’s monumental aqueduct, created by Lorenzo Nottolini in 1851. The aim is to collect a comprehensive collection of data and information to help a future restoration and regeneration of the monument. The adopted methodology to achieve a comprehensive cognitive framework consists of an extensive research of all cartographic and historical material integrated by an extensive photographic survey, of analyses of the temple conditions in different historical periods, of investigations on the foundation subsoil related to the regulations in force and, finally, of an accurate study on the seismicity of the area. After collecting the data, a 3D numerical model has been made to represent the temple behaviour after the most important loading conditions. The performed analysis have shown the critical areas of the structure; more specifically, the comparison of software’s results with the crack pattern has shown a correspondence between the most stressed areas provided by the numerical analysis and the observed most significant cracks. From the performed analysis, one of the most important actions affecting the mechanical response of the temple has resulted to be the thrust of the arches on the temple structure, increased by the thermal effects, which have effected the construction especially before 1933, when the aqueduct has been cut off to build a new road.
