In this paper, we propose and assess an mm-Wave communication system that is based on the use of constant-envelope multicarrier modulation format, namely Constant-Envelope OFDM (CE-OFDM): particularly, in order to establish a preliminary assessment of the affordable performance, we propose and design a SIW slotted array with a squared cosecant pattern at 73 GHz; moreover, we consider only single-user very high data-rate transmissions and two scenarios, namely, the small cell downlink and the so called "information shower". Simulation results, related to LOS downlink transmission in 73 GHz channel, will consider link performance in terms of bit-error-rate and packet-error-rate in a LOS channel and prove that CE-OFDM, used with trellis-coded modulations, can offer interesting performance results in terms of robustness and coverage.

Abstract
In this paper, we propose and assess an mm-Wave communication system that is based on the use of constant-envelope multicarrier modulation format, namely Constant-Envelope OFDM (CE-OFDM): particularly, in order to establish a preliminary assessment of the affordable performance, we propose and design a SIW slotted array with a squared cosecant pattern at 73 GHz; moreover, we consider only single-user very high data-rate transmissions and two scenarios, namely, the small cell downlink and the so called "information shower". Simulation results, related to LOS downlink transmission in 73 GHz channel, will consider link performance in terms of bit-error-rate and packet-error-rate in a LOS channel and prove that CE-OFDM, used with trellis-coded modulations, can offer interesting performance results in terms of robustness and coverage.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
