Chefchaouen, un patrimonio in pericolo

La città di Chefchaouen, situata nel nord del Marocco, protetta dalla dorsale della catena del Rif, è stata fondata dagli arabi andalusi nel XV sec., in una posizione strategica per il controllo delle rotte verso la costa (fig.1). Il suo fascino e la sua peculiarità si ritrovano nella bellezza del paesaggio urbano, caratterizzato da viuzze tortuose e dagli intonaci bianchi e azzurri che rivestono le pareti degli edifici e le strade, creando una particolare atmosfera in cui il passante si trova immerso. La medina di Chefchaouen rappresenta in modo efficace un processo di costruzione di una cultura architettonica e urbana dai tratti originali, scaturito dall’influenza delle culture islamica, spagnola-andalusa e berbera. The city of Chefchaouen was founded by Andalusian Arabs in the fifteenth century in the north of Morocco. It is protected by the Rif mountain ridge in a strategic position that gives it control over the routes to the coast. Its charm and distinctive feature can be found in the beauty of the urban landscape. The narrow winding streets and the blue and white plaster covering the walls of buildings and roads create a special atmosphere that surrounds the passer-by. The medina of Chefchaouen reflects the construction of a unique architectural and urban culture, which has arisen from the influence of Islamic culture, Spanish-Andalusian and Berber cultures.
