The year 2004 saw the creation of the Council for Basic Cardiovascular Sciences (CBCS), within the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). The Council brought together ESC working groups focused on different aspects of cardiovascular biology and pathology, and societies and groups outside ESC who shared similar scientific interests (https://www.escardio.org/The-ESC/Communities/Councils/Council-on-Basic-Cardiovascular-Science/About). The CBCS aims to advance basic science and its relation to clinical practice and to provide a Europe-wide forum for cardiovascular research societies, stimulating collaboration. The Council successfully launched several projects for the community of its membership, with strong and generous support from the ESC Board, such as the bi-annual Summer School in Cardiovascular Biology, travel grants for young scientist attending the annual ESC congress, and a career award for emerging independent scientists. The CBCS has a liaison with the AHA Council for Basic Sciences, and the Editor-in-Chief of Cardiovascular Research is a member of the CBCS, strengthening the wider reach of the CBCS. A project of the CBCS that reaches out beyond its membership was the initiation of a bi-annual conference on cardiovascular biology that brings the best and newest science to the cardiovascular arena, the Frontiers in Cardiovascular Biology, now in its 4th edition in Firenze (http://www.escardio.org/Congresses-&-Events/Upcoming-congresses/Frontiers-in-Cardiovascular-Biology/Frontiers-in-Cardiovascular-Biology).

Abstract
A project of the CBCS that reaches out beyond its membership was the initiation of a bi-annual conference on cardiovascular biology that brings the best and newest science to the cardiovascular arena, the Frontiers in Cardiovascular Biology, now in its 4th edition in Firenze (http://www.escardio.org/Congresses-&-Events/Upcoming-congresses/Frontiers-in-Cardiovascular-Biology/Frontiers-in-Cardiovascular-Biology).I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
