This paper develops a conceptual framework for ensuring the sourcing decisions are compliant with the servitization strategies of manufacturing companies. We argue that the choice of a servitization strategy, and the development of the PSS offering, should be driven by the customer‟s perception about the product‟s complexity and criticality. The sourcing decisions to configure the supply network, and the typology of relationships to be established with the supplier, should be taken accordingly.

Abstract

This paper develops a conceptual framework for ensuring the sourcing decisions are compliant with the servitization strategies of manufacturing companies. We argue that the choice of a servitization strategy, and the development of the PSS offering, should be driven by the customer‟s perception about the product‟s complexity and criticality. The sourcing decisions to configure the supply network, and the typology of relationships to be established with the supplier, should be taken accordingly.
