Abstract

The abstract summarizes a talk where the potential drivers of the outbreak of Dothistroma septosporum recently reported in the natural forests of Pinus nigra laricio in The Sila Massif (Calabria, Italy) in the frame of emerging forest diseases in Europe. The research opportunities provided by the D. septosporum population found in The Sila Massif in order to clarify the still elusive origin of the disease in Europe, are also discussed.
