In the Sicily channel, near the offshore production platform Vega-A, the FSO Leonis is located. The tank-ship stays permanently near the platform via a steel column mooring system. The connection between the ship and the mooring column takes place through a steel bridge deck structure with welded box sections that make up the SPM (Single Point Mooring) system. This structural steel system, box-sections and column beams, with its cylindrical hinges is loaded by the actions of the sea that induce cyclic and fatigue stresses. The paper presents the characteristics of the system for monitoring the structure of the bridge-column coupling, installed on the structural system since Oc-tober 2009; in particular, will be analyzed the method of collecting and the statistical interpretation of the data to determine the structural behavior under the actions of the sea. With data processing, on a daily basis, it was possible to identify the dynamic response of the SPM system, calculate the num-ber of cycles to conduct the fatigue check of the column and the hinge joints. The results allow to evaluate the conditions assumed for the project and to define a program for inspection of the steel welded column and bridge and the casted hinges.
