The article reconsiders the evidence for balance weights from the Quartier Mu, Malia, Crete (Middle Bronze Age advanced) under both the metrological and contextual points of view. The weights correspond to the known Neopalatial (i.e. later) weighing system, though showing some idiosyncrasies and possible parallels withe Near Eastern units. Their contexts are thoroughly investigated, providing a strong clue for connecting the weighing operations with various economic activities, including metallurgy, storage, pottery and textile production and administration. Weighing seems then something related to daily tasks, and not only a trade medium. Quartier Mu is one of the most known and well-preserved complexes of Minoan Crete, and gives us a glimpse on Protopalatial (MBA) daily life, craftwork and administration.
