We investigate assumptions under which we have global existence or blow-up for a parabolic equation satisfying a nonlocal boundary condition. Such a condition describes the situation when a body is surrounded by a perfect thermal conductor or immersed in a well-stirred fluid. Though introduced at the end of the 19th century well-posedness for this kind of problems is not yet completely solved
