About 20% of elderly patients who need surgery after trauma, mainly hip fracture , are in anticoagulant treatment The gold standard in these patients should be to perform surgery within 48 hours from trauma. Aims of this study were; a) to evaluate the effects vitamin K reversal of anticoagulation in warfarin patients on time admission– surgery and on hospital mortality ;b) to assess the results of two different bridging anticoagulation regimens, LMWH at anticoagulant dose or at dose recommended for VTE prophylaxis, on the incidence of thromboembolic and hemorrhagic complications.
