A corrugated circular horn of exceptional bandwith, spanning both bands 2 and 3 of ALMA radio telescope (67 − 116 GHz) is presented. Design, thanks to both a long transition region and an input matching non-standard waveguide section, achieves a very good return loss and polarization purity both in excess of 30 dB over a band of about 50%.

Abstract

A corrugated circular horn of exceptional bandwith, spanning both bands 2 and 3 of ALMA radio telescope (67 − 116 GHz) is presented. Design, thanks to both a long transition region and an input matching non-standard waveguide section, achieves a very good return loss and polarization purity both in excess of 30 dB over a band of about 50%.
