SBN: un organismo in crescita e il futuro che c’è già

Many European libraries are experimenting with the application of linked data technologies for publishing and using their data on the web. This is so that the data in the catalog are "on the web and not just on the web", as stated “On the record”, the important report of the Library of Congress Working Group on the Future of Bibliographic Control (2008). “On the record” refers to the need for: transforming the text description into datasets usable for processes and automatic processing by machines; make the data elements uniquely identifiable (through URI, ISNI and other identifiers); ensure data compatibility with web technologies and standards; use a transversal and interoperable language in the reality of the web. MARC is moving towards BIBFRAME - Bibliographic Framework as a Web of Data: Linked Data Model and Supporting Services. From data management we have moved to data management. Bibliographic relations are central (Elaine Svenonius, Tom Delsey, FRBR, Barbara B. Tillett). Analysis of European projects in linked open data: BnF.fr, BNB, libris.kb.se. Thinking of a data.sbn.it version? Molte biblioteche europee stanno sperimentando l’applicazione delle tecnologie dei linked data per la pubblicazione e l’utilizzo dei propri dati sul web. Ciò affinché i dati del catalogo siano “del web e non solo nel web”, come afferma “On the record”, l’importante report della Library of Congress Working Group on the Future of Bibliographic Control del 2008. “On the record” richiama alla necessità di: trasformare la descrizione testuale in set di dati (dataset) usabili per processi ed elaborazioni automatiche da parte di macchine; rendere gli elementi di dati univocamente identificabili (tramite URI, ISNI e altri identificatori); assicurare la compatibilità dei dati con le tecnologie e gli standard del web; usare un linguaggio trasversale e interoperabile nella realtà del web. MARC sta muovendosi verso BIBFRAME - Bibliographic Framework as a Web of Data: Linked Data Model and Supporting Services. Dal record management si è passati al data management.
